Course Overview
NYU Law's LLM is consistently the top-ranked LLM program in the US and the gateway most Sri Lankan law graduates pick when they want to sit the New York Bar. The general LLM is unstructured — you build your own 24-credit curriculum across any specialism (Taxation, Corporation Law, International Legal Studies, Competition, Human Rights, Environmental) — and named LLMs are available in those fields with curated coursework.
NYU Law's Hauser Global Scholars and IILJ Scholars programs subsidise selected international candidates fully. The Greenwich Village location, the alumni network across Wall Street law firms and federal courts, and the in-house Office of Career Services make this the strongest US Bar route for Sri Lankan attorneys who already hold an LLB.

- check_circle Personal statement, resume, two recommendations and a transcript with credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the US.

Career Outcomes & PR
NYU LLMs who pass the New York Bar exam typically join US BigLaw (Sullivan & Cromwell, Skadden, Cravath, White & Case) as Foreign Associates earning USD 215,000+ first-year, or return home to senior roles in international firms and arbitration practices. Sri Lankan graduates use the 12-month F-1 OPT to gain US practice experience before the law degree closes the door on H-1B sponsorship for legal roles.
