Middlesex University Dubai
LLM in International Business Law
Middlesex University Dubai
Course Overview
Middlesex University Dubai awards the identical UK degree to its London campus, and its LLM in International Business Law is a one-year postgraduate programme at the Dubai Knowledge Park campus. It covers international commercial contracts, corporate governance, arbitration and dispute resolution, international trade and investment law, banking and finance law, and competition law — calibrated to the cross-border commercial environment of the Gulf and the DIFC's English-common-law courts. A research dissertation lets students specialise in an area of practice, and Dubai's position as a regional legal and arbitration hub provides exceptional industry proximity.
Sri Lankan applicants with an LLB (or a strong cognate degree plus legal experience) fit the cohort well, and an English-medium Sri Lankan LLB can waive the IELTS requirement via an MOI letter. This is an academic and specialist qualification: it upgrades legal expertise for corporate, in-house, and advisory roles, but practising before courts in Sri Lanka still requires Bar admission via the Council of Legal Education, and UAE court practice requires local licensing. The UAE Green Visa offers graduates a five-year post-study residency pathway, and Colombo is a four-hour flight away.
