LLB Bachelor of Laws
University of Wollongong in Dubai
Course Overview
UOWD's LLB is one of the few UAE-accredited common-law degrees available in Dubai. It is awarded by the University of Wollongong, Australia, and licensed by the UAE Ministry of Education, with a curriculum that blends Australian common-law foundations with UAE federal law, sharia commercial principles, and DIFC / ADGM English-law jurisdictions — exactly the mix Gulf corporate counsel teams use day-to-day.
Core subjects span contracts, torts, criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, and legal research, with later-year electives in international commercial arbitration, banking law, employment law, and Islamic finance. Sri Lankan students considering practising law back home can use the UOWD LLB as the academic stage and then complete Sri Lanka Law College finals or qualify into the Australian legal profession after a Practical Legal Training year.

Career Outcomes & PR
UOWD law graduates land roles with regional law firms (Al Tamimi & Company, BSA Ahmad Bin Hezeem, Hadef & Partners), in-house counsel teams (Emirates NBD, Dubai Holding, Emirates Group), and DIFC-based international firms. The Australian LLB also qualifies graduates for Practical Legal Training in Australia and admission as a lawyer in NSW or Victoria — a useful fallback if Gulf hiring tightens.
