Course Overview
Manchester's three-year LLB Law is a qualifying law degree under the Solicitors Regulation Authority — covering all seven foundations needed to sit the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) for England and Wales. The curriculum mixes the core (contract, tort, criminal, public, EU, equity & trusts, land law) with electives in commercial, international and human rights law.
Sri Lankan applicants apply through UCAS by January 14 with predicted A/Level grades; many of our students continue from the Sri Lankan Cambridge or Edexcel A/Level systems straight into Manchester. The LLB is well-suited to students aiming at City of London firms, the Bar, or returning to corporate/legal-tech roles in Colombo with a globally recognised qualification.
Entry Requirements
Academic
- check_circle A/Levels: AAB (Cambridge or Edexcel) including a humanities or essay-based subject.
- check_circle No LNAT required at Manchester — unlike Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, LSE and King's.
- check_circle Strong personal statement showing commitment to studying law (work experience, mooting, Model UN all count).
- check_circle UCAS application with one academic reference and predicted grades.
English Proficiency
- check_circle IELTS Academic: 7.0 Overall (min 6.5 in each section).
- check_circle TOEFL iBT: 100 Overall (min 22 in each section).
- check_circle Waived if A/Level English Language at C or above.

Manchester LLB graduates regularly secure training contracts with Magic Circle (Clifford Chance, Allen & Overy, Linklaters), Silver Circle (Slaughter and May, Macfarlanes) and major international firms — NQ solicitor salaries in the City run £100,000-£150,000.
