Course Overview
The UNSW JD is a 3-year graduate-entry law degree for students who already hold a bachelor's in any field and want to qualify as a lawyer in Australia. UNSW Law & Justice is ranked top 15 globally (QS 2025) and #1 in Australia for international students by Times Higher Education. For Sri Lankan applicants, it's a direct route to admission as a solicitor in NSW and a 3-year 485 Temporary Graduate Visa.
The curriculum covers the 11 'Priestley' subjects required for legal admission in every Australian state — contracts, torts, criminal, constitutional, property, equity, evidence, civil procedure, ethics, administrative, and corporations law — plus electives in international arbitration, technology law, and human rights. Students also complete the Practical Legal Training (PLT) component required for solicitor admission.
