BSc Economics
University College London (UCL)
Course Overview
UCL's BSc Economics (Econ) is a three-year, mathematically rigorous undergraduate programme ranked consistently in the UK top 3 alongside LSE and Cambridge. Year 1 builds the quantitative core (micro, macro, statistics, maths for economists); year 2 deepens econometrics and applied theory; year 3 lets you specialise across labour, development, behavioural, finance, and public economics. Many students intercalate a year abroad at top US, European, or Asian partner universities.
For Sri Lankan applicants this is a stretch target — UCL Economics requires A*AA at A Level (or 39 IB) plus the TMUA admissions test. Students who land it gain a direct pipeline into the Bank of England, IMF/World Bank graduate streams, top consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain), and investment banking analyst programmes in London.
