Course Overview
Utrecht University's BSc Computer Science is one of the Netherlands' top-three undergraduate CS programmes (alongside TU Delft and the University of Amsterdam) and consistently ranks top-100 globally for Computer Science (QS subject 2026). The three-year programme is taught 100% in English — the Netherlands is the European leader in English-medium undergraduate CS education. Core modules cover programming, algorithms, software development, computer systems, data and information, theoretical CS, plus a substantive specialisation choice in Year 3: Artificial Intelligence, Game and Media Technology, Software Technology, or Foundations of Computing.
Utrecht sits in the centre of the Dutch Randstad — Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Eindhoven all reachable in under an hour by train — and operates a strong industry-internship pipeline into the Dutch tech ecosystem. Industry partners include Booking.com, Adyen, ASML (Veldhoven), TomTom, Philips Eindhoven, ING, ABN AMRO, plus the Utrecht Science Park gaming and AI cluster (Guerrilla Games, Triumph Studios). Bachelor's students complete a research project or an industry-based bachelor's thesis. Utrecht is a Dutch coalition partner in several Erasmus Mundus joint bachelors and AI4EU research consortia.
Entry Requirements
Academic

- check_circle Cambridge / Edexcel A-Levels: BBB-ABB including Mathematics (Mathematics A preferred).
- check_circle IB Diploma: 30+ points with HL Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches preferred).
- check_circle Online mathematics entrance test for applicants whose maths background is unclear.

- check_circle Motivation letter (~500 words) and CV. No interview required.
English Proficiency

- check_circle Waived if your A/L, Cambridge International or IB programme was taught and assessed entirely in English (Sri Lankan English-medium applicants qualify with an MOI letter).

The Netherlands offers the Orientation Year (Zoekjaar) — a 1-year residence permit to job-search after a Dutch Bachelor's, Master's or PhD. Graduates of Dutch universities qualify for the lower Highly Skilled Migrant salary threshold (~€2,801/month gross in 2025) — substantially lower than the standard threshold and the easiest route into Dutch tech employment in Europe.
