Course Overview
The University of Amsterdam's BSc Business Administration is delivered through the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) and is the highest-ranked Dutch undergraduate business degree (FT European Business Schools, Eduniversal) along with Erasmus and Maastricht. UvA sits at top-60 globally for Business & Management (QS subject 2026). The three-year programme is taught 100% in English and operates a numerus fixus — admission is capped at ~600 places per year with a selective decentralised admission process (the Common Application: motivation essay, structured CV review, plus a quantitative skills assessment).
The curriculum covers core business modules (accounting, finance, marketing, strategy, operations, organisation theory) plus a substantive concentration choice from Year 2: Finance, Marketing, Strategy, International Management, or Digital Business. Year 3 includes an exchange semester at one of UvA's 90+ partner schools and a bachelor's thesis. Amsterdam is the financial and consulting centre of the Netherlands — Big Four (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC), McKinsey Amsterdam, BCG Amsterdam, Bain, plus Unilever, Heineken, ING, ABN AMRO, Booking.com, Adyen, Mollie and TomTom all recruit heavily from UvA ABS. The Netherlands offers the Orientation Year (Zoekjaar) — a 1-year residence permit to job-search after a Dutch Bachelor's. Graduates of Dutch universities qualify for the lower Highly Skilled Migrant salary threshold (~€2,801/month gross in 2025) and the 30% tax ruling for under-30s.
