Course Overview
SUTD's BEng in Computer Science and Design (CSD) blends core computer science — algorithms, systems, AI, software engineering — with design thinking and a strong studio culture. Sri Lankan applicants get the technical depth of a CS degree plus exposure to interaction design, human-computer interaction, and game design that most CS programs skip.
The first 3 terms (freshmore year) are common across all SUTD pillars before students declare CSD. The degree is taught in English on the Changi campus, runs on the term system, and culminates in a year-long capstone where teams build a working product with an industry sponsor.
Entry Requirements
Academic
- check_circle A-Levels: AAB or higher (with Mathematics) — competitive applicants typically present 3 A's.
- check_circle Sri Lankan Local A-Levels (Physical Science / Maths stream) accepted with strong grades — counsellor will map your subjects to SUTD's framework.
- check_circle IB Diploma: 38+ points with Mathematics HL preferred.
- check_circle SAT (optional but recommended): 1450+ composite, Math 750+.
English Proficiency
- check_circle IELTS Academic: 6.5 Overall (no minimum band rule, but 6.0 in each section is safer).
- check_circle TOEFL iBT: 90 Overall.
- check_circle Waived if your A-Levels or prior degree were taught in English (most Sri Lankan applicants qualify).

CSD graduates land software engineering and product roles at Google, Meta, Shopee, GovTech Singapore, ByteDance, and DBS. The MOE Tuition Grant comes with a 3-year service obligation to work in a Singapore-registered company — which is exactly the EP/S-Pass pathway most international students want.
