Bachelor of Applied Science (Interior Architecture)
Curtin University
Course Overview
Curtin's Bachelor of Applied Science (Interior Architecture) is a 4-year Honours degree taught out of the Perth Bentley campus and is one of only two interior architecture programmes in Australia accredited by both the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI). The first three years cover spatial design fundamentals, technical documentation, materials, sustainability, lighting, and digital tools (Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite). Year 4 is structured around an Honours-level independent design project and a 12-week industry placement.
Sri Lankan applicants choose Curtin Interior Arch because Perth is a designated regional location for the 485 Temporary Graduate Visa — meaning 4-year Bachelor's graduates qualify for 3 years of post-study work (versus 2 from Sydney/Melbourne). The DIA accreditation is recognised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Interior Designers (SLIID) for chartered membership. Tuition is also substantially lower than equivalent programmes at Melbourne or RMIT, and the IFI accreditation transfers internationally — graduates can practise in Singapore, Dubai, the UK and the EU without re-credentialing.
