MSc Public Health
McGill University (School of Population and Global Health)
Course Overview
McGill's MSc Public Health is a 24-month, non-thesis professional degree run out of the School of Population and Global Health on Pine Avenue, beside the McGill Faculty of Medicine. The program is built around four core pillars — epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, and health policy — followed by an applied practicum (often with the Public Health Agency of Canada, CIUSSS Montréal, or international NGOs like MSF and WHO partners).
For Sri Lankan applicants from medical, nursing, or biological science backgrounds, this degree opens doors into Canada's expanding public health workforce — particularly into roles at Public Health Ontario, the Quebec health network, and academic research. McGill's epidemiology faculty (including the Lady Davis Institute) is among Canada's strongest, with active research on infectious disease modelling, global mental health, and Indigenous health.
