Course Overview
The Ivey HBA is Canada's flagship undergraduate business degree — a two-year programme taught entirely through the case method that students enter in Year 3 after completing two years of pre-business study (Sri Lankan applicants can apply for AEO — Advanced Entry Opportunity — straight out of A/Ls to lock in their Ivey seat from Year 1 at Western).
Class sizes are kept small (around 70 per section) and every class meets in a U-shaped classroom, where students debate real business cases with senior executives. The HBA closes with a leadership-focused integrative course and a Ray & Walter Light Capstone where teams consult for a real Canadian company.
Entry Requirements
Academic
- check_circle Strong A/L profile (typically 3As) or equivalent, plus first two years of undergraduate study at Western (or another recognised university) for direct HBA entry.
- check_circle AEO applicants: top 10–15% of high-school class with leadership track record (school prefect, sports captain, community work, employment).
- check_circle Personal statement, two leadership references, and a video interview for shortlisted candidates.
- check_circle No GMAT or SAT required for HBA admission.
English Proficiency
- check_circle IELTS Academic: 6.5 Overall (no band below 6.0).
- check_circle TOEFL iBT: 83 Overall (min 20 Writing, 20 Speaking).

Career Outcomes & PR
Ivey HBA is the most consistent feeder into Canadian investment banking, management consulting, and Big Tech graduate programmes. Around 95% of the class is employed within 3 months — McKinsey, BCG, Bain, RBC Capital Markets, CIBC, Scotiabank, Amazon, and the Big Four all recruit on campus. Graduates qualify for the 3-year Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which is the standard pathway to Canadian PR.
