MSc Psychological Sciences
University College London (UCL)
Course Overview
UCL's Division of Psychology and Language Sciences is ranked #6 globally for Psychology in QS World Rankings by Subject. The MSc Psychological Sciences is a 1-year conversion Master's BPS-accredited (British Psychological Society) — designed for graduates of any discipline who want to qualify as a psychologist or pursue Doctoral training (Clinical, Counselling, Educational, Forensic). The programme covers all six BPS core areas: biological, cognitive, developmental, individual differences, social, and conceptual & historical issues of psychology, plus a 60-credit research dissertation.
Sri Lankan applicants typically take this route when their undergraduate degree was in business, medicine, or arts but they want to pivot into clinical psychology, counselling, or HR consulting. The conversion MSc gives Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the BPS — the first formal step on the UK or Sri Lankan psychologist pathway. The BPS GBC is also recognised by the Sri Lanka Psychological Association for chartered psychologist registration in Sri Lanka.
