MA New Media and Digital Culture
University of Amsterdam
Course Overview
The University of Amsterdam's MA in New Media and Digital Culture is a one-year English-taught Master's at the Netherlands' largest research university (QS top 60) and home to internationally renowned media-research groups, including the Digital Methods Initiative. The programme examines digital platforms, data and algorithms, software and interface culture, online activism, datafication, and the politics of the internet — blending critical theory with hands-on digital-methods and platform-analysis skills.
Sri Lankan applicants — media, communications, IT, humanities, and social-science graduates — choose UvA for: a globally-recognised media credential, a one-year completion that contains cost, 100% English-medium delivery, and the Netherlands' standout 1-year orientation visa (zoekjaar). Amsterdam is a European hub for tech, media, and creative industries. The MA suits those targeting roles in digital media, platform and data analysis, UX research, tech policy, journalism, and academia.
